We stole a car to drive down to Lake Erie
Three cards
And see broken glass on a white Canadian beach
Tonight
She wears her straw hat like a crown of diamonds
And smiles
Someday we’ll be on familiar streets
Inside
There are smooth petosky sontes in jacket pockets
And charms
Arrowheads and indian souvenirs
We find
Girls wave to drunken sailors on the sidewalk
And smile
A cafe catches fire and disaapears
Tonight
Thunderstorms can drown out conversations
And shake
Lucky horseshoes off of fish shack walls
There’s a flood of tourists each vacation
The faces are different but the lake doesn’t change at all
Indians in cowboy hats on horseback
Three cards
Point out seven sisters in the dark
Night sky
They sparkle brighter than a crown of diamonds
And shine
And fade away into the morning light
