When I was young I read some books about the galaxy
I read chapter upon chapter of sci-fi and fantasy
But way back then we didn’t know what we all do know now
How other life was not a threat but humans are all cowards
I don’t remember how it happened, but I remember light
The sounds of mass explosions and the smell of burning fires
I remember screaming, I remember holding you
I remember thanking Planet Earth and all we put her through

Now down below is ruined cuz we couldn’t make amends
'Cause we’re selfish and we’re stupid and we didn’t think ahead
And now we’re trying to re-create what we all had before
Everyone’s pretending but I know their hearts are sore
Everything is regimented, everything’s on time
Everyone is really busy with their new jobs and new lives
Whoever is in charge is doing a fantastic job
Of keeping us complacent, some have already forgot
