Out of the seething cauldron of my woes\nWhere sweets and salt and bitterness I flung\nWhere charmed music gathered from my tongue\nAnd where I chained strange archipelagoes\nOf fallen stars; where fiery passion flows\nA curious bitumen; where among\nThe glowing medley moved the tune unsung\nOf perfect love: thence grew the Mystic Rose\nIts petals of divided light\nIts leaves of the most radiant emerald\nIts heart of fire like rubies. At the sight\nI lifted up my heart to God and called:\nHow shall I pluck this dream of my desire?\nAnd lo! there shaped itself the Cross of Fire!
