Sidewalks Remnants

As a flower eases its way from the sidewalk, I see it
Its color possesses the town
Creating all the bystanders to frown
They don’t know the significance of this
It’s time they find out
It’s time they know the significance of this
As I walk up to it
There’s nothing more
I’ve got to find a way out
These thorns are protected by the sidewalk
Grab the sun and carry on
As I walk up to it gracefully
I’m stopped and astounded by its thorns
