Between a rock and a hard place
That's where you put me with the words you say
Not like an elephant where the room fills up
More like 800 1lb gorillas
These little slights are so slippery
I let them slide but they always stick with me
It's getting harder to keep them underneath

See if we were a movie if we were a show
The next scene would be a perfect scenario
Where I'd say how I feel and the reasons I felt it
And all of these passive aggressions would be dealt with
I'd hear your story and you'd see my side
The music would swell and every other line would rhyme
We'd finally acknowledge what's happening
But this ain't a movie so we just keep acting

We know our little number so well
The stage is covered up in egg shells
We do our dances and hit our marks
Deliver dialogue we memorized by heart
We'd never break our characters
We'd never leave the fourth wall shattered
Because if I took offense you'd play innocent
I'd look petty and over-sensitive
