I read the papers almost everyday
I want to know what’s happening now
I don’t understand a word they say
What’s most important seems to get left out
Freedom fighter or terrorist
Depends on who’s the journalist’s boss
Don’t try to tell me who’s a communist
Just tell me what it’s gonna cost
I’m so confused there ain’t no education
I’m so confused we could use some explanation
I’m so confused I feel all hope is lost
Every time I hear a news reporter start to talk
Newspeak — why is everybody talking
Newspeak — I don’t understand it
Newspeak — Laugh it’s a joke
And they wonder why nobody wants to vote
I keep my TV flashing faithfully
I hear what the talk shows have to say
Costs 20 million to be president
That’s called democracy today
Who owns the media I want to know
They let us think we’re in control
Who’s gonna bust the thought police
When everybody’s on their payroll
I’m so confused I’m so frustrated
I’m so confused and baby I graduated
I’m so confused I feel all hope is lost
